Wellbeing Cultivated through Kindness

Summary

Wellbeing can be cultivated through kindness. We eat the same way. We digest food the same way. We make love the same way. We must stop killing each other or we will self-destruct. Let’s be kind together. Let’s stop those who are killing US.

Wellbeing Cultivated through Kindness

Today’s post is brief because I need to step back and rekindle my faith in humanity.

I want to believe in our ability to be humane towards each other. I want to trust that we will choose to be humane towards each other. I want to be kind towards those of US who seem bent on fueling divisiveness, hatred, and dehumanization.

Wellbeing cultivated through kindness is possible.

How else will humanity survive?

Call to Action: Wellbeing Cultivated through Kindness

Each one of US needs to pause and reflect. And, we must take action.

May I be crude? Like it or not, I am going to be crude, to speak in the vernacular, to quote my deceased mother and my deceased grandmother and my deceased father. Yes, there is much that dead people, as flawed as they were, can teach us.

We all eat the same way though we may not appreciate the same foods, prepare the food using the same condiments and spices, or serve our meals using the same utensils and platters. Trust me when I say this: food goes into our mouths and through our gastrointestinal tracts in the exact same physiological fashion.

We all defecate and urinate. Yep. The food we ingest exits our bodies via the same physiological means.

We all make love the same way. I am not going to be graphic except to say that whichever organ causes titillation in you, can also potentially cause titillation in me. I do not care if you want to procreate or not: that is not my business and I am damn sure that it is not anyone else’s business, except yours. So, Bible literalists, this is not an endorsement of narrow-minded interpretations of the literature which informs religious belief systems. I am stating the physiological reality here. Period.

We all communicate using some form of language and our languages connect us to each other.

We all benefit from nature and the resources in our universe.

Our commonalities exceed our differences. Accept the truth of that statement. Accept the reality that no one skin colour is better than another. My phrasing is intentional. Skin colour is just that: the colour of one’s skin. That’s it, guys.

We should not give one whit about skin colour.

But, that is exactly what is happening in the USA. And, again in the vernacular, that is a crock of crap. I do not give a flying hockey puck about skin colour or religion or primary language or country of birth or cultural dietary preferences, except that I learn so much from people from different backgrounds.

I would not be here if my ancestors had decided to procreate only with people of the exact same background. I am confident that this applies to everyone. That’s the truth.

I would not be here if my ancestors had hated people to the point of killing them. But that is exactly what is happening in the USA today. If we do not hold the killers accountable; if we do not hold the makers of these policies accountable; if we do not hold our elected officials accountable; if we do not hold ourselves accountable; we will self-destruct. We will be worse than all people who came before us.

Why? Because we have not learnt a damn thing from our collective history.

Wellbeing Cultivated through Kindness

Kindness allows us to express our gratitude to others. Kindness allows us to connect socially with others. Kindness allows us to laugh at our foolish selves and feel the relief in the dissolution of the walls between us. Kindness allows us to see the beauty of another human being. Kindness allows us to recognize that we are not perfect. Kindness allows us to admit that we can agree to disagree. Kindness allows us to sit down with each other and broker plans together for our collective benefit.

When someone or a group of people sets us against each other, all of the benefits of kindness evaporate. That is what the Donald and his billionaire friends are doing to us, to US. Let this not continue.

Stand up and reach out to someone whose views are different than yours. Open your mind and listen to them. Share with them your humanity. Talk about how weather events, like the snow and ice of this past weekend, have affected you, your family, your friends, total strangers, all of whom are people. Strive to acknowledge your common goals in life.

Each of us, each of US, wants love and happiness and safe neighbourhoods and sanitary homes and access to healthcare and the opportunity to improve our lives and the ability to afford food and peace of mind. The only people stealing these opportunities from US and from the world are the billionaires who think that they have right to tell US what to do and what rights we have.

And, the billionaires are succeeding in convincing us that we are the problem, that certain segments of the population are the problem. Just like Hitler did. Just like Idi Amin did. Just like Pinochet did. Just like Mussolini did. Just like Pol Pot did. Just like Stalin did. But, the billionaires are wrong.

We are stronger together. We are undefeatable together. We are indefatigable together. We are capable together.

Killing Each Other Hurts Our Wellbeing

We are not cultivating our collective wellbeing while we kill each other or we allow masked men and masked women to disappear US and kill US. Killing is, literally, killing US.

I ask you to remember the names of the people whom we know to have been killed by those masked men and those masked women under the auspices of the Donald’s Administration, just since December 31, 2025:

December 31, 2025: Keith Porter

January 3, 2026: Geraldo Lunas Campos

January 5, 2026: Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres

January 6, 2026: Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz

January 7, 2026: Renee Nicole Good

January 9, 2026: Parady La

January 14, 2026: Heber Sanchaz Dominguez

January 14, 2026: Victor Manual Diaz

January 24, 2026: Alex Jeffrey Pretti

What makes them different from you and me? We all eat the same way. We all defecate and urinate the same way. We all make love the same way.

I hear my ancestors. They tell me to be brave and to be honest. They tell me that we can cultivate our collective wellbeing, if we are simply kind to each other.

Simple, human kindness.

Always, surround yourself with music to inspire you to be kind, grateful, generous, compassionate, peaceful, and truth seeking.

Please give generously to your local food pantries. Your neighbours will thank you.
