Summary
Our wellbeing depends on the world`s wellbeing. The world`s wellbeing depends on our wellbeing. World wellbeing means we need peace. We cannot achieve peace by bullying; stealing from others; oppressing others; starving people; and continuing to be mean to people. Conflict exists everywhere. Learn how to manage conflict in all aspects of your life. Learn to create peace for the wellbeing of the world.
Our Wellbeing, The World’s Wellbeing
I repeatedly say that we are interconnected. We need each other. Research and common sense and sociocultural history confirm that social contact impacts our wellbeing. Let’s contemplate our wellbeing, the world’s wellbeing.
One World in Wellbeing
The last that I checked, we live in one world on this earth. People live together.
We share resources. We share fears. We share aspirations. We share desires. We share needs. We share hopes.
By necessity, we need each other. That means we have to work towards peace in this world.
Not by imposition.
Some of the research which I reviewed in previous posts demonstrates that carrot and stick tactics do not work. Neither do greed, trickery, stealing another people’s resources, spreading disease, promoting famine, bullying, or projecting one’s deficits on the other party.
Wellbeing is a process. Winning someone’s trust is a process.
Anybody listening?
I am well aware that my audience of one is not going to make me famous. I do not write these posts to be famous. I do not write expecting my words to be revered by a slew of people. I have a fan club of one and that suits me fine.
I write these posts to share my thoughts. Perhaps, one person will derive benefit from a post of mine. That is enough for me.
Nothing is ever created de novo, in writing at least. Writers are influenced by a myriad of factors which means that other people likely experience the same thoughts I do. A current runs through a neighbourhood, a culture, a community, a nation, and even the world as we share similar reflections.
One world.
Why not one world in wellbeing?
The Evidence for One World in Wellbeing
Read my previous posts.
I have been inspired by many people, in many disciplines, who share some of my views about wellbeing for the individual, wellbeing for a community, wellbeing for a nation, and wellbeing for the world.
Peace equals wellbeing for our world.
Let’s get on it.
Working Together: World Wellbeing
It’s a no-brainer. You don’t bully your neighbours and expect friendship to be the outcome.
Let’s start exemplifying our humanity by showing kindness and compassion and consideration for each other.
Let’s work on developing fraternity in our communities.
Let’s adopt a charitable and caring stance towards those people who are less fortunate financially. Remember: poverty is not a crime.
Let’s embrace an egalitarian view of each other. The last I checked, no one is more significant in this world than anyone else.
Let’s practice equanimity in the face of hate. We cannot fight hate with hate: it never works.
Let’s see beyond the lies and fight for the truth. Stealing from the most vulnerable in society is never justified and cannot be justified.
Take-Aways: Learning, Learning, Learning
There are many roads in life. We have choices and we make choices. We live with the consequences of those choices.
How about making informed choices?
Yes. Choices based on information. Information which is not based on mantras spun to manufacture consent. Rather, information which is based on facts.
Sometimes the facts leave us with mud on our faces. I would rather admit that I am wrong and feel ashamed for my errors than spread lies and hate to justify my bad choices and stupid actions. Life is all about making mistakes and learning from our mistakes.
Otherwise, we will continue to reenact history. Otherwise, we will repeat the terrors of our world history. Now that is really stupid.
We know better.
One world. One race. One species. One family.
Educate yourself about peace and conflict resolution. Conflict exists in all aspects of our lives. Wouldn’t the world wellbeing be the better if you acquired the knowledge to resolve conflict and work towards peace?
As always, music for the soul:
Billy Ocean: One World
Sebastián Yatra: Dos Oruguitas from “Encanto”
Fabienne Thibeault : Quand les hommes vivront d’amour (de Raymond Lévesque)
Daniel Boucher: La paix dans le monde
Art reflects life and teaches us something along the way.
Be safe. Be kind. Be patient.
United We Stand.
