Mental Wellbeing Through Breast Cancer Awareness

October 2024 is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Today’s post is brief and concise. Make a point of checking your breasts for lumps and consult your medical treatment team about being screened for breast cancer. Whether you are genetically a man (born male) or a woman (born female), take the steps to screen yourself for breast cancer by doing regular breast self-exams.

While some organizations do not recommend regular breast self-exams (Memorial Sloan Kettering, as an example: https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/patient-education/breast-self-awareness-breast-self-exam) due to the lack of evidence that breast self-exams help find breast cancer or do not help people live longer, breast self-exams are a reminder to pay attention to your breast health.

By taking care of our bodies, we take care of our mental health. By taking care of our mental health, we promote our mental wellbeing. By safeguarding our mental wellbeing, we acknowledge our worth. By valuing ourselves, we demonstrate care for the wellbeing of our community.
