Summary
Disappearing people is incompatible with our wellbeing. Disappearing people is a tactic of Trump 2.0. Disappearing people is a strategy which has been used for a long time to instill fear and subdue people. We, The People, will not be gaslit. We are rising to protect each other, including our First Nations.
Disappearing People and Wellbeing
The USA has a long history of eliminating people from the population. Let’s talk about disappearing people and wellbeing.
Disappearing People and Wellbeing in the USA
Disappearing people has a long history in the USA. The Department of Defense even had a school (formerly called School of the Americas) dedicated to teaching strategies to destroy political opposition and ways to govern in order to subdue a country’s population. Disappearing people is just one strategy to instill fear in communities and control community members.
Disappearing people is not conducive to the wellbeing of the individuals being disappeared; to the wellbeing of the community; or to the wellbeing of our nation. We need only review the impact that the current disappearances by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) is inflicting on our communities in 2025. People are feeling traumatized; violated; and betrayed.
The literature on the impact of disappearing people reveals that the mental health consequences of disappearing people warrant further research, per a recent article in Medicine, Science, and the Law (2025). My search led to very few research articles related to the mental health effects of the practice of disappearing people. We do know that, as a result of the disappearances by dictatorial régimes in South America and Central America during the 20th century, people have suffered. Disappearing people leads to attachment issues; trauma related symptoms; and the constant uncertainty about and lack of closure with the disappeared persons.
Trump Domestic Terrorist Organization Is Disappearing US
The Trump Administration, which in my opinion is a domestic terrorist organization (see previous post), is perpetuating a long history of the disappearance of people in the USA.
Contemporary disappearances overwhelmingly involve our First Nations. Such an oxymoron. Members of our First Nations are still being disappeared. Did we not do enough damage to the First Nations when European settlers first arrived on the North American continent, through the spread of disease, violence, and wars?
In North America, the disappearances of members of our First Nations have been recognized as a public law enforcement crisis. Thus, Congress passed The Not Invisible Act in 2020, which Donald J. Trump signed during his first term. The legislation generated a report, Not One More Report, which Trump 2.0 removed from the US Department of Justice website in February 2025. The report has never been restored to the DOJ website.
Not only do we have a public crisis related to the disappearance of Indigenous women and their relatives, which I deem to be a public health crisis and a public law enforcement crisis, we have a depraved DOJ refusing to acknowledge the crisis.
The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR) crisis deserves attention and the victims and their families deserve justice.
Disappearing Indigenous People: Trump 2.0
Dismissing our First Nations is consistent with the erasure of history by Trump 2.0.
But, it is never enough until our First Nations are eliminated, according to some people. To quote Ann Coulter, “We didn’t kill enough Indians.” Coulter posted this statement on July 5, 2025. The recent rhetoric of the Trump Administration espousing White (whatever the hell that means) Christian Nationalism endorses the continued extermination of our First Nations.
The motive of the Trump Domestic Terrorist Organization Administration is clear: eliminate people who do not agree with the Trump Domestic Terrorist Organization Administration or who do not meet criteria for being a valued person according to Trump 2.0, especially people who do not identify as ‘white’; who are not identified as ‘white’ by the Trump Administration; or who do not look ‘white’ according the Trump Administration.
Count me in as being in opposition to the Trump Administration.
Historical Accuracy for Our Wellbeing
Historical accuracy informs our future. We learn from the mistakes of our ancestors. Human beings have common ancestors who learnt to survive via collaboration and cooperation and creativity. Historical accuracy ensures our collective wellbeing.
The erasure of historical facts and evidence does not eliminate the truth. Refusing to teach the history of the United States does not change the reality that slavery is a stain on the history of many countries, including on the USA. Falsification of truth does not alter the reality that the Holocaust occurred. Failing to report on the reality in Gaza does not obviate the genocide which is being perpetuated on Palestinians. Hobnobbing with Putin does not change the fact that Putin started the war on Ukraine. Claiming that tariffs are not felt by the American People does not change the fact that tariffs are taxes on US.
I challenge some fellow Americans to wake the hell up. I reserve the right to challenge Italian Americans to wake the hell up. Bondi, De Santis, Alito: where did your families originate? Yeah. You are not members of the First Nations. Recall how Italians were treated when they first tried to immigrate to the USA: remember the names our ancestors were called for being Roman Catholic, for eating garlic, for working on pavement, for being stereotyped as mafia, for not being ‘white’. Bondi, Alito, De Santis: Italian Americans are NOT WHITE. Learn the history of Italy and wake the hell up.
Diversity Is Strength: Our Collective Wellbeing
The beauty of our world is diversity. Remember the Smithsonian article I frequently cite about Berenike (Marchant, 2024). Our diversity is our strength. The USA has been an experiment in democracy which has succeeded because our differences have informed our creativity, our innovation, our efforts, our philosophies, our spiritual inclinations, and our progress. Let me repeat: our diversity is our strength.
By the way, the last I checked, there is no such thing as ‘white culture’. There never has been a culture associated with a skin colour. And, there is not a single person who is pure anything. As I always say, if you think that you are ‘pure’ bred, you are inbred. That is sick and not something I would be proud to tout.
Disappearing People Destroys Our Wellbeing
Disappearing people and wellbeing are not positively correlated. Translation: disappearing people destroys our collective wellbeing. If we have not learnt that from history, then we surely can learn that from our present.
We are rising up to oppose Trump 2.0. All of US, including Appalachia, are rising up to oppose the cruel tactics of the Trump Administration. Appalachia knows firsthand what oppression is because people in Appalachia have been ignored and forgotten and used as pawns for generations. Appalachia is rising up against ICE and against disappearances of their neighbours.
Parkrose Permaculture: Tr*mp ICE raids backfire as Appalachia turns against the regime they voted for.
Minnesota is rising up to protect their neighbours and to oppose ICE and CBP:
Status Coup News: BREAKING: ICE STANDOFF With Workers Near Minneapolis
Now, all of US, must accord the same energy to protect our Indigenous brothers and sisters.
The history of the USA is based in genocide of First Nations. Period. So, it is not surprising that Trump 2.0 is bent on eliminating Indigenous People. Gaslighting is a technique to which We, The People, will not succumb.
